Dinard lies by the sea in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine. It is one of the seaside resorts on the Emerald Coast and is populated by 10,000 inhabitants. Dinard is surrounded by the towns of La Richardais and Saint-Lunaire and is separated from Saint-Malo by the Rance, a coastal river flowing into the English Channel.
