The first option for having a good time in the region is hiking. This is particularly popular to the west of Corbières, around the commune of Mirepoix. Explore the rocky paths and marvel at the superb Fontestorbes fountain! If you feel like it, continue exploring and head for the Ariège village of Camon, which has a remarkably well-preserved historical heritage. Just a few minutes from Corbières, there are plenty of activities on offer in Limoux! The Musée des Automates is one of them, and it's getting busier every year. You'll have the chance to admire over a hundred moving figures in the heart of a baroque setting. Children are particularly keen to see the figures of musicians, countesses, noblemen and knights. The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Marceille boasts a nave that is typical of southern Gothic architecture. Its interior features an 18th-century high altar and a chapel housing the Black Madonna. The environment changes radically to the south-west of Corbières, on the site of the Lac de Montbel. Popular with migratory birds, this 570-hectare stretch of water offers a gargantuan playground for water sports enthusiasts. Try your hand at kayaking or pedal-boating, or simply soak up the sun if your holiday is all about lazing around!
