This destination in the south of France also has a remarkable reputation for its Cassis wine, the first AOC to be recognised in Provence. You might like to try a Rosé, which goes perfectly with a bouillabaisse, or accompany a plate of squid with squid ink with a delicious white wine! On the other hand, it's probably not in the restaurant that you'll taste one of the succulent local sweets. You'll have to go to a small stall to discover the unforgettable flavours of panisse, pompe à huile or casse dents, a famous Provençal pastry.

Cassis: activities for everyone

They can be discovered on foot or by boat and leave no visitor indifferent! The calanques of Cassis will never cease to amaze you, especially the sumptuous calanque of En Vau and its turquoise waters. Don't forget to keep your eyes peeled as you stroll around the calanques, which are home to a number of beautiful species, including the kestrel. Those who prefer to make the least effort will be happy with days lounging on the beaches of Cassis. If you're not afraid of the world, the Grande Mer beach by the harbour is for you! This sandy stretch is popular with families and has the advantage of being supervised during the summer months. For couples without children, we recommend the Plage Bleue on the peninsula, a peaceful spot with breathtaking scenery. Take advantage of your holiday in the Midi to try your hand at diving! The Eissadon, the coral grotto and Cap Morgiou are among the most popular spots for successful first dives. In the evening, after dining on the port or in one of the village's narrow streets, take a trip to the Casino on Avenue du Professeur René Leriche. It offers visitors a wide choice of slot machines and has a very friendly atmosphere!

The proximity of the Phocaean city is bound to be an asset to Cassis' appeal. With the Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde basilica, the Vieux Port and the Stade Vélodrome Orange, there's plenty to keep you busy for a few afternoons! Not quite satisfied with hiking in the Parc National des Calanques? Take a climb up the Col du Garlaban to Aubagne, a fantastic opportunity to observe the Mediterranean flora. The region's historic heritage is also epitomised by the superb Carrières des Lumières in Baux-de-Provence, another flagship destination located just a few dozen kilometres from your holiday rental in Cassis.
