The Dordogne Valley and the Haut-Quercy region are brimming with numerous addresses where it remains very pleasant to lunch or dine. We're thinking first and foremost of the table at Hôtel Le Belvédère, which features several tasty starters including IGP Sud-Ouest semi-cooked duck foie gras and exquisite fish such as a cod fillet confit in olive oil, accompanied by a julienne of vegetables. The choice of meats is equally abundant: the brigade concocts, for example, Label rouge lamb shoulder from Quercy and grilled duck breast with red wine sauce from Cahors. Auberge Le roc du Berger is another establishment that presents delicious recipes to its clientele. These include wood-roasted Quercy quail, fresh Ouysse trout with ham and Le Rocamadour AOC cheese. At the end of the meal, it's hard to resist the Melon des Coteaux and the popular sweets of the Brive region. Restaurateurs offer Tarte à la caillade and Flognarde, a dessert similar to a clafoutis.
The Rocamadour sanctuary, also known as the Religious City, is undoubtedly the most visited tourist attraction. It includes the seven chapels and the Basilica of Saint-Sauveur, built in the 13th century. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is mainly characterised by its Romanesque style. The atmosphere at La Forêt des Singes animal park is completely different! Unlike other places where the comfort of the animals is neglected, here the residents are pampered and enjoy a privileged environment. Information panels and videos make for a highly educational visit. There are two other sites in Rocamadour and the Haut-Quercy region in general that we feel are not to be missed. These are the Grotte des Merveilles and the Maison des Abeilles. The latter is a real living exhibition on the life of this insect and on the very special profession of beekeeper. Looking for something to do for an afternoon on your holiday? Try your hand at canoeing from Souillac and explore the most beautiful landscapes in the Dordogne valley.
How can you have fun with the family just a few minutes from your holiday rental in Rocamadour? Head for the Quercyland water park! It's home to various inflatable games, a picnic area, shaded areas and even a bar-restaurant.
Departing from Ligneyrac, we invite you to take a walk with a donkey. An atypical way to discover the most majestic villages in the Lot and the Corrèze. There are, of course, other sites of interest around your accommodation in Rocamadour. The Musée Labenche and the Grottes de Saint-Antoine de Brive-la-Gaillarde may be of interest to you as they appeal to many tourists every year in Occitanie. The historic heritage of Cahors with the Pont Valentre and Saint-Etienne Cathedral are also cultural assets in the region.
