The advantages of the accommodation
Description
The Pont de la Roche gîte, which owes its name to a nearby waterfall, is located in a small mountain hamlet, 2 km from the village of Cheylade. Staying in the Cheylade valley means benefiting from a privileged environment with the Puy Mary as a backdrop. The Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park is home to a remarkable natural, cultural and landscape heritage. During your stay, you can explore the wide open spaces that make it up and breathe the pure mountain air! * Cottage for 6 people at the foot of Puy Mary The Pont de la Roche gite occupies a character house overlooking the village of Cheylade. Fitted out to accommodate 6 people, the house extends over 80 m2 and 2 levels. It benefits from a large garden, closed and shaded, where it is good to meet to eat outside or simply enjoy the tranquility of the place. We climb a few steps to access the house. On the ground floor, you will find a large living room arranged on the one hand with a living room and on the other hand with a kitchen. Bathed in light, the space is very pleasant. In the living room, the sofa is comfortable. In the spacious and functional kitchen, all the equipment is present: refrigerator, freezer, microwave oven, hotplates, dishwasher, small household appliances. If you are in the kitchen, you will appreciate the breathtaking view of the Lac des Cascades and the Cantal mountains in the background. The cottage has 3 bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor. The 2 bedrooms located upstairs offer a view of the lake and a view of the mountain respectively. A baby space, with cot and high chair is fitted out, which is very practical for a family stay with children. On request, you can rent sheets and towels. The bathroom is equipped with a shower cabin and a toilet. In addition, there is a separate toilet adjoining the garage as well as a washing machine. What could be better than taking advantage of sunny days for a walk in the heart of wild and verdant nature! This is what you can do from the cottage, walking to the Roche waterfall. 200 meters away, you can reach Lac des Cascades, popular with fishermen and walkers for its superb panorama of the Cantal mountains. And pass by the Sartre waterfall, in the heart of the Petite Rhue glacial valley. Around the waterfall, an interpretation trail deals with the natural heritage and the different species of local trees. HOLIDAYS AT THE FOOT OF THE CANTAL VOLCANO The villages of Cheylade and Le Claux, 7 km apart, take place in the heart of the central massif, in the Regional Natural Park of the Volcanoes of Auvergne. Installed in the Cheylade valley, not far from Puy Mary, they concentrate a large number of hiking trails. Criss-crossing the paths, taking the time to observe a landscape or a marmot: hiking, on foot or on horseback, is an ideal way to discover a territory. Between the Cheylade valley, the Cézallier plateau and the Cantal mountains, you can really enjoy it. From Le Claux, the Burons trail climbs gradually through the summer pastures, towards a unique panorama of Puy Mary. The more technical Chamois hike leads to the heart of the Petite Rhue glacial cirque. More experienced hikers will be tempted by a stage of the GR®4 or the GR® 400. The Cantal part of the GR®4 starts from Saint-Flour and ends at the Lioran station. The circuit is carried out in 3 days and allows you to fully appreciate the beauty of the volcanoes of Auvergne. The GR® 400 meanders the sides of the Cantal volcano and allows you to go around it in 8 days. There are shorter variants in loops, to be done over a weekend. If you are looking for a less sporty activity, climbing Puy Mary, classified as a Grand Site de France, is a good alternative. It still requires some effort, which will be quickly forgotten by the magnificent 360° view of the valleys and the chain of puys. A path has been laid out from the Col du Pas de Peyrol. Mountain biking, cycling, climbing, paragliding, or even fishing are among the outdoor activities that you can practice during your holidays in Cantal. In winter, Nordic activities take over: cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or dog sledding, sledding. To do this, meet at the Haut Cantal Puy Mary - Col de Serre Nordic area, 15 km from Cheylade. For alpine skiing, you will have to go to the Lioran resort, 35 km away. Romanesque churches, burons, wayside crosses, castles, washhouses, medieval houses are all elements of Cantal's architectural heritage that you can visit during your stay. Two sites, just 6 km from the Pont de la Roche gite, are worth a stop. The Chapel of La Font Sainte, perched at 1,230 meters in the middle of pastures, is a peaceful place that invites contemplation. Apchon Castle, of which only ruins remain standing at 1,119 meters above sea level, is one of the oldest castles in Auvergne. In Riom-ès-Montagnes, you can visit the 12th century Saint-Georges church, stroll through the shopping streets, buy cheese, enjoy a glass of Aveze (the local aperitif made from gentian) or even board a aboard a Le Gentiane Express tourist train. In short, enough to spend a good day! The medieval towns of Murat, 29 km from your vacation rental, and Salers (37 km) are among those villages where it is good to walk around while admiring the typical architecture that surrounds you. Destinations to add to your travel diary!
