The peaceful hamlet of La Roque is nestled between the villages of Saint-Clément and Pailherols in Cantal Carladès. This is where the Grand Gîte is located, a beautiful building of character dating from 1782. Looking for a quiet place, a little out of time, to enjoy nature and relax? The Grand Gîte La Roque offers a welcome break, just 30 km from Aurillac. House with garden and fireplace in Saint Clément The Grand Gîte occupies part of a stone house, typical of this mid-mountain region. The other part of the building houses the Small Gîte (for 4 people) which belongs to the same owner. Renovated according to the rules of the art with traditional materials, stone and wood, this house of character has become a welcoming family gîte. With a surface area of 89 m2, Le Grand Gîte is designed to comfortably accommodate 6 people. The living room on the ground floor brings together a kitchen, a dining room and a living room. The fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, etc.) faces a large farm table. The decoration made up of old furniture contributes to the charm of the place. The large original stone fireplace has been preserved. The show is organized around it. Television, DVD player, hi-fi system, wifi connection, you will find all the modern comforts on site to keep you entertained. In winter, when you return from a ski or snowshoe outing, you will enjoy gathering around the warmth of the fireplace. A pellet stove and electric underfloor heating complete the heating installation. On the ground floor, a laundry room is fitted out with washing machine, dryer and toilet. A storage room for skis is at your disposal. Upstairs, 2 attic bedrooms, decorated in wood, each have a double bed (140 cm). Walk-in shower, double sink and toilet make up the bathroom. The third bedroom, with 2 single beds (90 cm), is located in the attic. In fine weather, you will have a pleasant garden at your disposal. HOLIDAYS BETWEEN THE CANTAL VOLCANO AND THE AUBRAC PLATEAU Carladès is located in the Cantalian part of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park. Outdoor activities and discovery of authentic landscapes await you throughout your stay. Ready for a breath of fresh air? Departing from your vacation spot, from the hamlet of La Roque, a short hiking route (3 km) will take you along the Goul to the heights of Saint-Clément. A great introduction to appreciate the preserved nature of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park. The Carladès is a viewpoint over the Cantal volcano. At the top of the Col de Curebourse, a magnificent panorama is offered to you from the rock, an orientation table will allow you to identify the Cantal mountains. This short 40-minute walk (return) leaves from Vic sur Cère. The site is called “The Rock of the Hanged”, because in the Middle Ages the rock was the place of execution of the condemned. To admire beautiful panoramic views of the Monts du Cantal, take the loop route departing from the village of Badailhac (12 km from Saint-Clément). This hike, 17 km long but with a slight difference in altitude, is located on a large plateau, at an altitude of 1,000 meters, between the Cère valley and the Goul valley. Don't miss nearby: the Ronesque rock and its view of the Cantalien Massif and Aubrac the Romanesque church of Notre Dame de l’Assomption in Jou-sous-Monjou The Pas de Cère is discovered at the bend of a shaded path which runs along the Cère, continues at the bottom of impressive gorges and joins the Roucolle Waterfall. The Aubrac regional natural park, in Aveyron, is located around thirty kilometers from your vacation rental. The Truyère gorges (Natura 2000 Site), Lake Sarrans and the Laussac peninsula are all sites which will delight lovers of natural landscapes and water activities (fishing, swimming, etc.). Aubrac is also a gourmet stopover. Among the many specialties of the region, let us mention: aligot, farçous, fouace and even Aubrac beef.
