Description
Marie-Claude and Gérard invite you to enjoy your holiday in their gîte nestling in the heights of Limoux, in a natural and relaxing setting, 1600 metres from the town and its amenities. The gîte is composed of : - 2 bedrooms, one with a 140 cm bed and the other with two 90 cm beds, each equipped with a wardrobe. - 1 living room with a 160 cm BZ sofa bed, a kitchenette including a dishwasher, microwave oven and all kitchen utensils. - A shower room with washing machine, hairdryer and 200-litre hot water tank. - Air conditioning and heating available all year round. Sleeps up to 6 people. Garden, parking in front of the house, 21m² covered terrace with garden furniture. Rated 3 stars and 3 keys on Clévacances. Ideal location for discovering the city of Carcassonne with its lower town, the Canal du Midi, the Cavayère lake and the Cathar castles. Activities nearby: walks around Limoux and in the surrounding villages, swimming pool, white water sports, visits to museums, typical villages of southern France and Cathar country, and the Blanquette de Limoux winery. Don't miss the Limoux carnival, the longest in the world (January to March), the Cathar castles, the Galamus gorges, the Saint-Georges gorges and the Pierre Lys, the intermittent Fontestorbe spring and the Puyvert lake. You can also taste delicious culinary specialities such as Limoux fricassee, cassoulet, nougats, Blanquette de Limoux and Chardoné white wine, and enjoy excellent red wines while visiting the cellars. There is also a wide range of walks on offer, accessible to all. In summer, take advantage of lakes such as Puivert, La Cavayère in Carcassonne with its water sports and hiking trails, and Lac de Quillan. There are also plenty of opportunities for white-water swimming in the River Aude, which flows through the département via Limoux. The Limoux hinterland is rich in beauty, history and heritage, and its Cathar castles are also well worth a visit.
